The Shanghai Tower (Chinese: 上海中心大厦, 上海塔) is a huge high-rise landmark skyscraper in Shanghai, China. Its design height exceeds the nearby Shanghai World Financial Center.
The Shanghai Tower project covers an area of 433,954 square meters, the main building is 119 floors, the total height is 632 meters, and the structure height is 580 meters. Motor vehicle parking spaces are arranged underground and can park 2000 vehicles.
On March 12, 2016, the overall construction of the Shanghai Tower was officially completed. It total cost 15 billion yuan (US $2.1 billion ).

Many domestic and foreign design institutes such as SOM Architects of the United States, KPF Architects of the United States and Shanghai Modern Architectural Design Group submitted design proposals, the “dragon-shaped” proposal of the United States Gensler Architects and the British Foster Architectural Affairs The “spire-type” program was shortlisted.
After selection, the “dragon-shaped” scheme won the bid, and the detailed design of the building was based on the “dragon-shaped” scheme. The construction drawings were completed by the Tongji University Architectural Design and Research Institute.
On January 6, 2020, it was selected as one of the top ten landmark buildings in Shanghai.

History
- On November 29, 2008, the pile foundation of the main building of Shanghai Tower was started.
- On March 29, 2010, the 61,000 cubic meter large slab concrete pouring of the main building of the Shanghai Tower was completed.
- On the morning of August 3, 2013, as the last steel beam of the main structure of the building was hoisted in place, the Shanghai Tower realized the topping of the main structure, reaching 125 floors and 580 meters in height as planned.
- On August 3, 2014, the Shanghai Tower was topped off in its overall structure and successfully reached the highest point of 632 meters, refreshing the Shanghai skyline to a new height.
- On October 29, 2014, colorful lights were installed on the outer wall of the Shanghai Tower, and the lights were tested.

- On November 19, 2014, after 2 years and 3 months, the glass curtain walls of the main building with a total area of 140,000 square meters were installed in place.
- In April 2015, the Shanghai Center successfully completed natural gas connection, and the natural gas supply height reached 557.94 meters.
- On March 12, 2016, the overall construction of the Shanghai Tower was officially completed.
- On April 27, 2016, “Shanghai Center” held the unveiling ceremony of the builders’ honor wall and announced the step-by-step trial operation.
- On April 26, 2017, the “Top of Shanghai” sightseeing hall on the 118th floor of the building was officially opened to the public.
