Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant ( Chinese:福清核电站 ) is located in Qianxue Village, Sanshan Town, Fuqing City, Fujian Province, in the east of China, close to the Taiwan Strait.
Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant is divided into two phases. A total of four 1000MW second-generation improved PWR nuclear power units and two third-generation hydraulic reactor Hualong 1 (CPR-1000) are planned. The total planned installed capacity is estimated to be 6000MW. Investment close to 100 billion yuan (US $14.7 billion ).

The current installed capacity of Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant is 4,356 MW. This power station is operated by China National Nuclear Corporation Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., which was established on May 16, 2006. China National Nuclear Corporation, Huadian Fujian Power Generation Co., Ltd. and Fujian Investment and Development Group Co., Ltd. hold 51%, 39% and 39% respectively. 10% equity participation and joint capital formation.

History
On May 16, 2006, China National Nuclear Corporation Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. was established.
Phase 1
On November 21, 2008, the first phase of the Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant started construction. Construction of Unit 1 began, and on November 22, 2014, this unit was completed and put into production.
On June 17, 2009, the construction of Unit 2 began, and the unit was completed and put into production on October 16, 2015.

Phase 2
On December 31, 2010, the construction of Unit 3 began, and the unit was completed and put into operation on October 24, 2016.
On November 17, 2012, the construction of Unit 4 began, and the unit was completed and put into operation on September 17, 2017.
On May 7, 2015, the construction of Hualong No. 1 of Unit 5 began, scheduled to be in operation about 2019.
On December 22, 2015, the construction of Unit 6 Hualong No. 1 started.
On March 2, 2020, Unit 5, the world’s first Hualong 1, completed the reactor thermal test. On September 4, Unit 5 Hualong 1 reactor began to be filled with nuclear fuel and was ready for power generation testing.
