Ningde Nuclear Power Plant

Ningde Nuclear Power Plant ( Chinese:宁德核电站 )is located in Taimushan Town, Ningde City, Fujian Province in eastern China, near the East China Sea. The nuclear power plant will be constructed in two phases.

Phase 1 invests 52 billion yuan (US$7.6 billion) to build a total of 4 1,000MW-class reactors. Construction of power generation unit No. 1 began on February 18, 2008, and began commercial operation on April 15, 2013. All 4 power generation units in Phase 1 were fully completed on July 21, 2016.

The second phase of the project includes two China’s self-developed “Hualong No. 1” reactors (HPR-1000), which are currently under construction.

The total cost of the Ningde nuclear power plant will exceed 70 billion yuan (10.2 billion US dollars). The current installed capacity is 4,072 MW, and the installed capacity after all stations is expected to be 6,000 MW.
