Bridge structure and technical parameters

Structure

The Shanghai-Sutong Yangtze River Highway and Railway Bridge consists of 5 parts, which are the main channel bridge, the Tianshenggang channel bridge, the Henggangsha water area bridge, the bridge across the Yangtze river levee and the approach bridge on both sides.

The structure of the bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with steel truss girder with twin towers and three cable faces.

1.Main channel bridge

In order to ensure the passing capacity of ships in the main channel of the Yangtze River and reduce the risk of ship collision, the main navigation hole of the bridge is designed for single-hole two-way navigation, that is, the net width of the main navigation hole is not less than 900 m.

The main span is 1092 m, and an auxiliary navigation hole with a span of 462 m is set on the north and south sides, so that the navigation hole coverage reaches 2016 m. The main tower is 1,083 ft ( 330 m ) high, approximately 100 stories high

2.Tianshenggang Channel Bridge

The Tianshenggang channel has gathered a number of large-scale ship repair and construction companies. This channel is designed to provide a channel for the products of these companies to enter and exit. The navigation density of ships is small, but the tonnage is large. Therefore, the bridge spanning provides a clear width of 284 m and a clear height of 45 m. Single-hole one-way channel.

In order to minimize the impact of the bridge on navigation, the main hole is used to span the navigation channel with a span of 336 m, and the north main pier is located behind the edge line of the nearest pier upstream.

3.Henggangsha water area bridge

Henggangsha is a shallow shoal between the main channel and the dedicated channel. The elevation of the riverbed is (-1.5~-1) m. To ensure normal flood passage, the Henggangsha water area bridge is arranged with a porous 112 m span.

4.Bridge across the Yangtze River

In order to ensure the safety of the Yangtze River levee, the piers of the bridge across the levee must be installed 30 m away from the foot of the waterside slope of the levee and 15 m away from the foot of the bank slope. Therefore, a span of 112 m is used to span the levee on the north and south banks.

5.Cross-strait approach bridge

The total length of the approach bridges on both sides of the bank is 19,117 ft (5.8 km). Due to the large clear height of the navigation channel, the approach bridge piers of the highway-rail joint construction section connected to the main bridge are taller, up to 62 meters, with a span of 49.2 meters;

The south approach bridge is 11,053 ft (3,369 m) long, and the north approach bridge is 6,155 ft (1,876 m) long.

Design Parameters

The Hutong Yangtze River Bridge is 6.9 mi (11.1 km) long, 22,930 ft (6,989 m) long at the overlapping part of the road and railway, 19,117 ft (5.8 km) long on the water part of the bridge, and 11,053 ft (3,369 m) long in the north. The approach bridge is 6,155 ft (1,876 m) long.

The main channel bridge is a steel truss girder double-tower cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 3,583 ft (1,092 m). The main tower is 1,083 ft ( 330 m ) high and approximately 100 stories high. The span is arranged as (140 462 1092 462 140) m.

The stay cable adopts parallel steel wire stay cable, the maximum cable length is 576.5 m, and the cable weight is 84 tons.

The main navigation holes of the bridge represent 50,000-ton container ships and 100,000-ton bulk carriers.

Featured technology

5G

Hutong Yangtze River Bridge covers the latest 5G technology. The road surface is covered by 5G new micro-stations, the railway surface is covered by 5G leaky cables, and the approach bridge is covered by multiple super-high tower sites for supplementary coverage.

The bridge will meet users’ high-speed Internet access, high-definition voice calls, VR/AR and other 5G applications, and at the same time, it can upgrade the SA network to achieve low-latency, large-connectivity and other industrial IoT applications.

Bridge Health Monitoring System

Hutong Yangtze River Bridge has developed an advanced bridge health monitoring system to achieve a three-in-one comprehensive monitoring mode of track line, bridge structure, and driving status.

This system can automatically analyze and alarm based on monitoring data. For parts that are not easily accessible by humans, video image recognition can be used to find potential hazards.

Lighting system

Hutong Yangtze River Bridge adopts the lighting scheme of all LED lamps.

By partitioning the cable surface, arranging different power projection lamps in groups, and setting them at the outer railings of the cable area at equal distances, and performing layered projection according to different light distribution combinations, which solves the drawbacks of traditional cable lighting uneven illumination and realizes The brilliance of bridge cables above 200 m in vertical height blooms perfectly.
