Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant ( Japanese: 柏崎刈羽原子力発電所 ) is located in Kashiwazaki and Kariwa in Niigata Prefecture in central Japan, near the Sea of Japan.
Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant is the largest nuclear power plant in the world, with an installed capacity of 7,965MW, but the plant has ceased service. Because of 2 major address accidents. The two earthquake accidents occurred in July 2007 and March 11, 2011 respectively.

Accidents
When the first earthquake accident occurred in 2007, Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant ceased service. On August 26, 2009, Unit 6 restarted service, and on May 31, 2010, Unit 1 restarted service. On November 26, 2010, Unit 5 restarted power generation.
The second earthquake occurred on March 11, 2011. All restarted units of Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant were shut down. As of now (September 2020), the nuclear power plant is still closed.

Reactors
There are 7 reactors with a total installed capacity of 7,965MW, all of which are Boiling water reactors, of which No. 6 and No. 7 are advanced Generation III boiling water reactors.
